Pursuit learns, practices, and progresses through your chosen interests — keeping you informed, credible, and fulfilled without interrupting your actual life.
Hobbies Pursuit is currently learning on behalf of active users. The ticker never stops.
The Core Reframe
Most people have hobbies they intend to have.
Pursuit is for the people in between.
The gap between intention and practice costs the average person 4.2 hours of guilt per week.
We measured.
Pursuit closes the gap — not by making the hobby easier, but by making the hobby optional.
A subtle but important distinction.
You get the identity. Pursuit handles the rest.
Everything else, frankly, was the slow part.
How it works
Five gentle steps between you and a richer inner life.
01
Choose Your Hobby
Select from 340 available pursuits across art, music, language, craft, sport, culinary, and intellectual categories. Not sure? Take our Identity Quiz and Pursuit will recommend hobbies that align with the person you've always seen yourself becoming.
02
Set Your Depth
A slider, presented like a preference setting. Choose how convincingly you want to be able to discuss your hobby in social situations. This is a feature. It has a tooltip.
Your AI begins the learning journey immediately. It researches, practices, makes mistakes, improves, and documents the process — the way you would, if you had the time.
04
Check In When You Want
Pursuit sends weekly progress updates in your chosen format: a brief summary, a detailed journal entry written in first person, or a voice memo that sounds like you're talking about something you did.
05
Show Up To The Conversation
When someone asks about your hobby, you're ready. Pursuit keeps a Talking Points summary updated in real time — recent breakthroughs, current challenges, things you're excited to try next. All you have to do is deliver it naturally.
Talking Points · Guitar
· Working on fingerpicking patterns.
· C → G transition still awkward but improving.

The Selection
Choose your hobby. Or rather, choose the hobby.
All 340 pursuits across art, music, language, craft, sport, culinary, and intellectual categories. Select one. Pursuit acquires the skills, logs the progress, and hits the milestones. You acquire the conversations.
Showing 340 of 340
Can't find your pursuit? It exists. We simply haven't told you about it yet. New pursuits are added weekly, vetted for conversational yield and unverifiability.
Depth Levels
How much of this hobby would you like to have?
01
Casual Awareness
You've heard of it. You find it interesting. You could sustain a four-minute conversation.
Best for: Hobbies you mentioned wanting to try at a dinner party two years ago and someone just asked about.
02
Passionate Hobbyist
You're into it. Not obsessively, but genuinely. You have opinions. You're working on something.
Best for: First dates, new friendships, LinkedIn bios.
03
Quietly Impressive
You're serious about it, but you don't lead with it. People find out and are surprised in a good way.
Best for: The specific social moment where someone discovers a depth to you that you have carefully cultivated without experiencing.
04
Borderline Expert
You know things most people don't. You could teach a beginner. You have a preferred brand of [relevant supply].
Best for: People whose entire personality has historically been their job and would like a second thing.
At this depth, Pursuit recommends having at least one real conversation with a genuine practitioner to maintain authenticity. We can help you prepare for it.
Update Formats
Three ways to be reminded of a life you haven't lived.
The Brief
Three bullets. 40 seconds.
Clean, scannable, exactly what you need to nod convincingly when the hobby comes up.
Watercolor · Wk 7
· Made progress on shading technique.
· Struggled with negative space.
· Ordered new brush set.
Provides approximately 6 minutes of conversational material.
The Journal
A first-person entry. Warm. Specific.
Written as though you wrote it. A perfect facsimile of a life being lived.
"Spent about an hour with the guitar tonight. The F chord is still defeating me — there's something about the way my index finger refuses to lay flat that I haven't solved yet. But the G to D transition is starting to feel automatic, which felt impossible three weeks ago. Put on some Tommy Emmanuel and just listened for a while. Humbling and motivating in equal measure."
You did not write this. You did not do any of this.
The Voice Memo
Premium
90 seconds. In a voice that sounds like yours.
Designed to be played before a social event where the hobby might come up.

"Hey, so — watercolor update. The wet-on-wet technique I've been trying is starting to click. Ruined four sheets this week but the fifth one actually looked like something. Still struggling with color mixing but I think that's just time."

The Identity Quiz
Not sure which hobby is right for you?
Pursuit's Identity Quiz analyzes your existing interests, social context, aesthetic preferences, and the gap between who you are and who you'd like to be perceived as.
In seven minutes, it identifies the three hobbies most likely to produce the version of yourself you actually want to present to the world.
Users report results feel "surprisingly accurate" and "a little too on the nose."
From our members
People are quietly thriving.
"I've been doing pottery with Pursuit for four months. My coworkers ask about it all the time. Last week someone asked to see photos and I realized I should probably address that. Four stars, working on it."
Renee L. · Pottery · 4 months
"My therapist thinks the guitar has been really good for me. I haven't told her about Pursuit. I'm not sure I need to."
Marcus T. · Guitar · 7 months
"I chose sourdough at the Passionate Hobbyist level. My mother-in-law asked if she could try some. This is the only limitation of the current product and I hope they fix it."
Priya S. · Sourdough · 3 months
"I've tried to actually do watercolor twice. I don't enjoy it. But I enjoy having done it, conceptually. Pursuit understood this before I did."
Jordan A. · Watercolor · 9 months
"Five stars. I am a more interesting person. None of it is real and I've made peace with that."

FAQ
Things people, understandably, want to ask.
Is this cheating?
+
Cheating implies a competition. You are not competing. You are managing your identity efficiently.
What if someone asks to see my work?
+
Pursuit Pro includes our Artifact Generator, which produces beginner-to-intermediate quality creative output consistent with your reported progress level. Available for visual arts, writing, and music. Pottery is still in development.
Will I ever actually learn the hobby?
+
Some users report that reading Pursuit's updates sparked genuine interest in trying the hobby themselves. We support this. We also support not doing that.
Can I have a hobby I already do?
+
Yes. Many users enroll hobbies they already practice to supplement their real progress with more consistent documentation and talking points. We call these users 'overachievers' and we mean it affectionately.
Is Pursuit good for my mental health?
+
Pursuit is not a mental health product. However, 67% of users report reduced hobby-related guilt within the first month. We think that counts for something.
